Philosopher Yuk Hui will be launching his new book Recursivity and Contingency
One of the most pertinent philosophers working in Europe and Hong Kong, Yuk Hui will be launching his new book Recursivity and Contingency. This book employs recursivity and contingency as two principal concepts to investigate into the relation between nature and technology, machine and organism, system and freedom. Engaging with modern and contemporary European philosophy as well as Chinese thought through the mediation of Needham, this book refers to cybernetics, mathematics, artificial intelligence and inhumanism.
Dr. Hui will launch his book at the Artist Book Library, JC Contemporary Second floor.
This event will include a brief introduction, and Q&A session with Melissa Lee, Education and Public Programmes Curator, Tai Kwun Contemporary.
A book signing will take place after the Q&A session.
